If feeling threatened Snowshoe hares may freeze hoping to stay undetected due to their camouflaging coloration, or they may flee. They are very cautious and tend to avoid open areas during bright periods of a single night. They typically feed at night and follow well-worn forest paths to feed on various plants and trees. Snowshoe hares are generally solitary but may gather in small groups when feeding. During the breeding season, they become diurnal and juveniles are usually more active and less cautious than adults. They may occasionally use the large burrows of mountain beavers as forms. They are shy and secretive and spend most of the day in shallow depressions, called forms, scraped out under clumps of ferns, brush thickets, and downed piles of timber. These Special Coats are Unique and require at least 1 parent to be that color in order to obtain offspring with that coat during breeding.Įvery Biome, except water, has at least one animal with a Special Coat color.Snowshoe hares are mainly nocturnal and don't hibernate. So far, only the Rabbit has had Event-related Special Coat colors. Some animals have a Special Coat that is only available through club contests, where your club must collect 100 puzzle pieces to obtain that animal. These Special Coats require at least 1 parent to be that color in order to obtain offspring with that coat during breeding. This building allows you complete specific animal collections, which give a Unique Special Coat animal as a reward. Some Breeding Events have a small, increased, chance (25%) for Unique Special Coats to appear from regular colored parents.Īfter Level 17, you can place the Visitor Center. Note & Tip: The chance is so low, that Upjers recommends only "trying" for the special coat during those breeding events when the chance is boosted to 25%. Some animals have an "extremely rare" special coat color, that may spontaneously appear after breeding 2 regular-colored parents. Your first three special coat animals will likely be from Dr.Byrd's breeding quests.
